[issue895] notify: make diffstat aware of changes missed by regular diffs

Regular diffs cannot represent binary files changes, permissions changes, etc...
It means diffstat will sometimes generate a weird "0 files changed" for a
non-empty revision. It would be good to have a smarter diffstat implementation.
