hgwebdir.cgi & branches

All,
I have about 70 repositories converted from Arch/TLA each with 20 to 30
branches. I'm using hgwebdir.cgi to host these on the web. It is a
great tool but I would like to have the repositories broken out by
branch. I'm thinking it would be nice to click on the repository and
have a page show the list of branchs. Then I could click on a branch
and see the changesets for just that branch.
First, is anyone working on something like this? If so, I'm happy to
help. If not, I have a number of years writing code in C, I have never
tried my hand at Python but I'm willing to give it a shot. I'm starting
by looking at the developer page on the wiki
http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/index.cgi/DeveloperInfo. Any
pointers are most welcome...
