I tried to help a bit about `merging' too, using a simple graph-like
history, but it was nice that RMS was (finally) intrigued about the way
dSCM systems work.

This is not the first time a discussion about $NEWSCM has popped up in
the emacs-devel mailing list, but it seems that ESR has steered the
discussion to a more fruitful outcome this time.  Neat!
