Pushed as 124577de40a7 and 180a3eee4b75 in crew (was really not sure this should go to stable). I edited the second patch to include discussed changes. I preserved the original "debugrename" behaviour, one test relied on it, both versions make sense but one of them can be mostly emulated with "log".
