[issue1051] does it realy need VS7.1 to build mercurial1.0?

i try to setup mercurial 1.0. at present it can be done only from sources.
when start compile mpatch, setup repots that it was compiled under VS7.1 and
requires one for compile mpatch.
i have VS6.0sp5 and now i need to search some new one. 
does it realy need nevest version to build?
