the patch is for the spec included in the mercurial repo, not for "your" 
Fedora package. The mentioned problems are probably not in the Fedora 
package.

The fedora package works fine and integrates fine with other Fedora 
packages, but sometimes it is very convenient to build a "raw" rpm 
package directly from a source tree (just by running contrib/buildrpm).

Having two specs that diverge means double maintenance burden, so it 
would be nice to keep them as close as possible. Actually, the patches I 
posted intentionally made the specs _more_ similar. Perhaps other 
aspects of your spec could be upstreamed too.
