I think Mercurial is great and deserves to invest some time.

My first usecase of addremove was doing blind snapshots in wild debugging
sessions (a FPGA connected to an ASIC) to track the progress: if "something" worked
10 minutes ago you could easily go back. I was one of the features
that really impressed me, although simple, it was very useful.

Two month ago I had to add an old, large project into hg. The project
was "version controlled" by copying the root folder for almost 1 year.
There was no way to do it manually. Unfortunately the feature had some
weaknesses, because I needed accurate and easy renaming and all this started.
