This looks very interesting.

It looks like there are some line wrapping problems in the
patch?

I recommend to use the patchbomb extension for sending
patches:
http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/index.cgi/PatchbombExtension

I use that even for single changeset patches.

For a single email patch, I usually send additional
explanations in a separate email.

So the subject line can be kept nicely short.
