[PATCH] auto rename: best matches and speed improvement

This is a much improved version, and hopefully the final version.
Statistics have been much simplified and code has been streamlined,
with no changes in unrelated parts.
I have also added the name matching parts. There is a unit test
for that and also the tests have been extended. I hope everything
is fine now.
