And I forgot to mention that your patch conflicts with my pending fix
for issue1578.  Guess I need to repost that one again.  My patch
targets hg-stable, since it fixes a bug (added by me ;-() that's
present in 1.2.1.  Anyways, one of us is going to have a conflict to
deal with.  Good thing we both have tests.
