Could someone suggest a way to work around antivirus applications

I know that eventually mercurial may provide some support for partial
checkouts, however, I need a solution sooner, rather than later.

:(

In this case, I'm using Symantec Client Security, however it's not
surprising that this file (and similar) would be rejected by antivirus
applications or that hg might be asked to manage them.
