As the comment says, there are still issues.
For whatever reasons, messages from the notify hook make it back to
the client, but messages when a pre-transaction changeset hook fails
do not.

Use any of the netbeans hooks, forbid2head is a real easy one.

Early last summer I took several shots at trying to fix it, but had no
success.
It is really annoying to have to explain to developers how our stable
repo is protected by several very important hooks, and if you violate
one, well, you'll just get a generic error with no clue what you did
wrong, and don't worry about that scary looking error the server and/
or repo aren't damaged/broken, that's just the error transmission
mechanism.
If I had a fix for it, I'd've already submitted it. I'm hoping someone
else has one that they forgot to send, or that something has changed
in the past 6-9 months to make a fix easier...
