[issue1688] "hg add" resulting in exception on Win98SE

I´ve set up Mercurial v1.2.1 on a Win98SE system and ran into the following 
error message when trying to add files to a repository:

Exception exceptions.WindowsError: WindowsError(-2146893818, 'Windows Error 
0x80090006') in <bound method lock.__del__ of <mercurial.lock.lock object at 
0x00AD6070>> ignored

I had set up a recent version (1.0.2) on a different Win98SE system with no 
problems, but I´m failing to do so (even with 1.0.2) on this particular system.

Any advice? Is there a list of "Windows Errors"? Checking the net gives that 
particular error number in connection with missing or corrupted XP .dlls, but I 
doubt this being the same error over here?
