I figured there were also benefits relating to your pbranch stuff, and
that the graph-walking code should now be more pluggable?

Sure, there's not much there on the normal code path, but I wouldn't
want to put a new code path in there without reviewing it, and I
unfortunately won't have time for that today. I'm also not sure about
the usefulness of the linear-run idea in the common case (I don't use
glog all that much myself, anyway; I usually prefer to look at the
hgweb graph instead).
