This will take about 5 minutes of work. Honestly, I am not encouraged that
you are calling this out as one of the two things you plan to do,
considering that getting notification working under Windows is going to be
far, far harder. In fact, just fixing the subtle race conditions in the
Linux code is tricky enough.
