[PATCH 0 of 5] Re: Handle prepush logic for named branches

The following patches should hopefully address most of the comments
that we have received from you and Dirkjan. Also, I have added an
extra patch for handling branches with pull, push, incoming, and
outgoing that builds upon the previous patches. Might as well be
reviewed at the same time to better complete the branch support.
