Yeah... Python version 2.4 is really sufficient if you are building from
source. But the installers for Mac OS X contain pre-compiled C modules,
and so they are version dependant.

I don't have a Mac, but I suggest you try with

  http://mercurial.berkwood.com/binaries/Mercurial-1.4-py2.5-macosx10.5.zip

instead. That should work for Python 2.5, as indicated in the file name.
