Thanks, Greg, for taking up my issues in translation.
There is one additional thing, that I hope a developer can do:

Many (but not all) ui.debug() strings are "tagged" with the _() function, so that they appear in the pot file.
But debug messages are usually not interesting for users and they are also very difficult to translate (unclear context).
Would it be possible to simply not schedule them for translation?

Looks like only 118 instances need be changed.
