How about a more forceful deprecation, where we warn on use? Something like:

warning: %s is deprecated and will be removed in a future release; please use %s instead

Benoit mentioned on IRC that ‘qsave’ and ‘qrestore’ are the most troublesome to keep around. I believe you mentioned earlier that we had to keep them because they were mentioned in the book. Does this still apply?
