[issue2318] Commit aborts when asking for commit message

Running on Ubuntu 10.04 with Mercurial 1.4.3 I issue hg commit.

I have gedit configured as the editor in .hgrc

The editor is brought up but before I can edit anything, the commit command 
aborts saying that no commit message was supplied.

If I change the editor to nano things work as expected.
