Hello folks!

I just want to pass on the word if you missed it: Leslie Hawthorn
confirmed today that Google Summer of Code 2010 _will_ happen [0]

Knowing that I came here only thanks to this program, it is definitely
an important matter for me :)

I went ahead and updated what I could on our GSoC wiki page [1]. Can
you double-check, and remove the ideas that are not interesting/actual
anymore?
I also tried to list the 2009 projects and how they ended, but I am
not sure that I got everything right, since the official appspot gsoc
page only lists the successful projects and dropped the failed
projects. Can you double check the information there? (apologies to
other students if I missed some names/got some information wrong -_- )
Did we have any successful projects in 2008 that we could mention
here?

In the upcoming weeks, can you keep in mind that we will have
potential students going around and asking for nice project ideas. If
you ever think "ah this would be an interesting feature, but I really
do not have time to implement it", can you please list it on the
project page?

The sprint could also be an interesting moment to refine ideas
altogether, and think of what interesting projects we could offer? I
believe that 10 to 15 minutes of mind-sharing on this topic could work
wonders, as it is not so easy: not only features need to be important
for the community for the student to feel motivated, but controversial
features are likely to be an instant no-go since mentoring a student
working on a difficult feature with little consensus would be very
challenging.
Please push that "gsoc" tag somewhere in your mind so it can pop up
from time to time ;)

Thanks!!
