[PATCH 0 of 2 stable] record: filtering attempt of a merge commit should abort early

Hello -devel!

I have to confess I was not really awake when I attempted to call record to commit a merge, as an attempt to filter out unwanted. Not very clever of me :)

Anyway, I'm glad I did that mistake, as it spawned this fix: checking if the changeset that we're committing is a merge or not is trivial; I believe that it should be done early in the record process, to prevent user frustration.
