I've update the CrewHowTo wiki page [1] a bit.

Specifically, crew members should please pull from main (mpm) first
before committing their changes if there are new incoming changes from
main. This avoids needless merges.

It might also be useful to pull from

    http://hg.intevation.org/mercurial/crew+main

which contains an automated mix of both crew and main (as mentioned on [2])

Crew members might consider to have in their hgrc:

  [paths]
  default = http://hg.intevation.org/mercurial/crew+main
  default-push = http://hg.intevation.org/mercurial/crew
