    Yep, that's definitely not correct. Not sure what to do here - we've
    been trying to kill this entire function for ages.

A possibility is to change the implementation of util.Abort in order to
allow for a multi-line argument, i.e. either prefixing every line with
"abort: " or not using the prefix at all.
