[PATCH 0 of 2] keyword: preserve file mode, stricter testing of kwexpand/kwshrink, record

Hi,

Please tell me whether these patches should go into stable, I can
resend against stable. At least the first could well be considered
as bugfix.

I have experimented a lot to avoid the "sleep 1" in the second
patch, but haven't found a reliable way to achieve this
otherwise. Obviously I'm open to suggestions.
