eol extension: inconsistent EOL processing

Hi,
Just wondering why, when using eol extension, instead of aborting with below
error in relevant cases:

abort: inconsistent newline style in <filename>

hg doesn't commit as binary with warning.
Or have one more option available on commit to force that.
what you do in such cases? make a zip with that file? options to force
binary attribute to that file?
