[PATCH 0 of 3 RFC] Remove hasattr() uses

The bulk of the change is the second patch, which was done
mechanically by using emacs keyboard macros over the output of the
modified check-code.

The additional blacklisting of rfc822 and mimetools is required
because hasattr() masks the DeprecationWarnings that would otherwise
be raised by demandimport. When imported via the email package, rfc822
and mimetools don't report deprecation.
