Note: the feature is incredibly useful.

I'm not an admin on the computers I use, and the apps I encounter are
incredibly lame. They make all sorts of stupid assumptions. That the
OS lets me create a shadow environment that works better is actually a
good thing.

The only time you encounter a problem is if you have both an active
user and an active admin. If nothing ever installs / upgrades programs
as an admin, then there's no problem with the user making changes in
the shadow.

(time for me to go back to fighting buggy rpm's on a system where
sh=dash and the idiots writing the rpm's assume it's bash and do other
stupid/evil things)
