Hi All,

Some of you already know, we are starting a community effort to revise
Mercurial: The Definitive Guide.

I've been in touch with the original author already. While we are still
working out the details of how Bryan wants to be involved in the process
(specifically reviewing / approving the changes we make), we've been given
the green light to begin the effort. I have also been in touch with the
publisher; I am still waiting to hear back regarding whether they will print
a 2nd revision of the paper copy of the book. I'll report back when I know
something.

We are still in the early stages and have a lot of details to work out, but
I propose we start by collecting a list of proposed changes -- topics to
write about, topics we know need to be updated, etc -- and decide on the
subject matter before we begin the large-scale writing efforts. I have
started a wiki page where everyone can suggest their ideas:

http://mercurial.selenic.com/wiki/WorkOnRevisingTheDefinitiveGuide

Please feel free to add not only something you can or want to write about,
but something you feel should be covered in the book but is missing. I
think once we give everyone some time to get their initial ideas for large
changes down, we can finalize the topics and start the actual writing.

We also have a community member (Tak) who is going to be editing from a
language standpoint, so if you have expertise and want to write about
something, but are concerned about how well your English will come across,
please don't let that be a deterrent.

Cheers,
Na'Tosha
