[issue3066] largefiles: if extension is not enabled, cloning remote repo gives useless error

If the client does not have largefiles enabled when it attempts to clone
from a remote (http) largefiles repo, it gets a large traceback ending with
"TypeError: Odd-length string" rather than the "abort: unknown repository
format: requires features 'largefiles' (upgrade Mercurial)!" message when
attempting the same clone locally.
