I suspect it's caused by the raw UTF-8 ‘ñ’ in the message and a non-8BITMIME gateway somewhere in the mix. Or just something parsing and re-rendering the message.

Having patchbomb specify a base64 transfer encoding for the message body might prevent it in the future. We discussed that once, though; I think it was rejected because of backward compatibility.
