I guess you didn't see any progress output because your operations
finished too soon. There is a 3 second delay by default. So try enabling
it and then clone a big repository:

  hg clone http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/

The ETA is shown in the manifest phase since there we know the total
number of manifests.

Well, that would work. The text is shown It's a bit longer than the
English string, but if you don't have a one-letter abbreviation you can
use, then that's just how it must be. Maybe another German user will
come by later and suggest something better.
