That is correct -- there was a bit of discussion at the sprint, but
nobody sat down and started a new inotify extension.

The existing inotify extension is considered too difficult to fix, so
there will eventually be a new extension written from the beginning.
This new extension will then try to use an API that is compatible with
all three major platforms. That is the goal -- I have no idea when more
concrete steps will be taken to get there.
