About current condition of Mercurial in Japan:

Incompatibility of filenames in Japanese between Unix/Linux/Mac(utf-8)
and Windows(cp932) environments prevents people from introducing
Mercurial, or migrating from other (centric) VCS, very much.

A few days ago, utf-8 support of msysgit was announced, so
implementing this feature now becomes very important to spread
Mercurial in Japan :-)
