Yeah, I think this is probably the right thing to do. It's definitely (BC) though.

I'm still wondering about whether this is the right thing if you're working on a series of changes, push, then pull and get a divergent head (and tangentially, possibly a divergent bookmark). Specifically whether it's the right thing in -all- of the usual workflows (anonymous branches, named branches, bookmarked branches).
