Priority: normal
Bug ID: 3998
CC: mercurial-devel at selenic.com
Assignee: bugzilla at selenic.com
Summary: Show the version of Mercurial used by the hgweb server
Severity: feature
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: swpalmer at gmail.com
Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 2.6.3
Component: hgweb
Product: Mercurial
It would be helpful if end users knew what version of Mercurial was running on
the server as the they would know if they should expect certain features to be
present or particular behaviour that requires a certain minimum version. E.g.
being able to push bookmarks. When updating the server it would also serve as
confirmation that the new version is in use (so it would be obvious if I forgot
to restart Apache for example).
As such, if the Mercurial version number was shown somewhere on the web page
this information would be readily accessible to the users. I would tuck it in a
corner under the Mercurial logo or put it in small type at the bottom of the
page.
