[PATCH 0 of 2 V2+] creation of translation with temporary files

When generating translation, use file extension ".tmp" for temporary files 
everywhere.
It has been decided to use XX.tmp instead of XX~, but this was not done 
everywhere. Do this now with this patches.

(The version number is for highlighting that the patches in previous mails 
are replaced. They do not apply anymore because earlier versions have been 
accepted.)
