Why are color and pager not enabled by default?

That's just what I was asking, how color and pager can get in the way of productivity. It sounds like you know the answer :-)

If they can get in the way of your productivity then my premise was certainly wrong, although I'm still interested to know what was wrong about it, if you don't mind sharing with the rest of the class.

They are distributed with Mercurial, I was asking why they aren't enabled by default.
