          Priority: normal
            Bug ID: 4647
                CC: mercurial-devel at selenic.com
          Assignee: bugzilla at selenic.com
Summary: Feature request to calculate the size of the remote
                    repository before cloning
          Severity: feature
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: All
          Reporter: visionofarun at gmail.com
          Hardware: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
           Version: unspecified
         Component: Mercurial
           Product: Mercurial

At present it is not possible to calculate the size of the remote repository
before cloning it. Users with slow network connection (genuinely slow &/or
through VPN, etc) may want to assert the size of the repo before attempting to
clone it.

In my case, I wanted to clone the repos from Mozilla central
(https://hg.mozilla.org/). Before I clone, since my network is slow and
intermittent, I wanted to see how big the repos are so that the clone doesn't
abort. But it wasn't possible and I had to check with people in Mozilla IRC.

A command to print the size of the remote repository would be very helpful
before cloning it.

I am not sure if the same can be extended to calculate the size of the incoming
csets, but that would be good to have as well.

Thanks!
