All my graphmod work stems from the smartlog extension (https://www.mercurial-scm.org/wiki/SmartlogExtension <https://www.mercurial-scm.org/wiki/SmartlogExtension>), which inserts a fake node to show a 'dotted line' (really two periods on separate lines) to indicate a grandparent relationship.

So, yes, this has been deployed internally for some time now, and within the Source Control team we do feel that limiting the style to a vertical 'ellipsis' is cleaner. My patches produce a more compact version of the same.
