Thanks :) In this case it wasn't really a problem -- I'm more worried about times when I'm watching the list less closely and don't notice these things myself.

Is it necessary to run test-check-py3-compat.t on the py3 build? I thought that runs as part of the normal ('hg tests', 'hg tests (stable)') builds. We could certainly run it on the py3 build in order to make failures visible there as well, but it seems redundant.
