Because I expect hg to follow the rule summarized below.
hg [hg-options] command [command-options]

A lot of unix tools do the same thing and you can have the same option
name which means different things on the left and on the right of the
command itself. My memory tells me cvs does this with the -d option and
the checkout command. I am sure there are lots of other tools doing the
same thing.

But well, I don't care much.
