add -d and -s to show/set default paths

Certainly "-d" is less keys to type than "default", and using -d mean we can
make "default" more transparent to users - if there's ever a need to change it
later. In any case, there should at least documentation on "default=". I don't
see it in the manpages, or perhaps I missed it.
