I will see if it is possible; if it is possible to get the information
in a efficient way form an external script, it shouldn't be problems.

Here I don't agree; you should change point of view. The point is not how
you can take an information. 
When there is the same information in the repository and in a file they are or will be
incoherent ( Marphy law ). So :
a) remove the information from one place ( and if you have the repo at hand is 
simple to remove the information from the file, but if you are the user ? ) or 
b) you have to implement a way to syncronize/correct these incoherents.

Think about to the changelog/filelog, it is very usefull to know the changes (of
a file) even tough you don't have the repo at hand.
