What I'm attempting to do may be a bad idea: use hg directly in
tracking a project that uses another SCM (svn).
There was another post today about using hg to track a project that
uses another SCM. It looks like the way to do this is with tailor
(http://darcs.net/DarcsWiki/Tailor).
But if you don't care about tracking the history of the project your
are tracking, it seems not unreasonable to put a working copy from the
foreign SCM into hg.

PS: if the error looks like it is worth tracking down, let me know
what other info I can provide. I'm running Python 2.4 on OS X.
