tag questions - Are spaces allowed? Can they be deleted?

If you have multiple heads, your tags will be the union of the
contents of .hgtags in those heads, with heads closest to the tip
taking priority. The "hg tags" command will show you the end result.

So deleting a tag with multiple heads is trickier, yes.
