access control via http/https

I wonder if it is possible to implement access control that restrict http/https
access to a selected list of users, including browsing of repo with a web
browser. Perhaps something similar to 'cvs login'?

Currently we can published our repos via http, but that pretty allow everyone
within the network access the repos. Would be nice if I can just create a list
in .hg/hgrc to control the access.
