As Christian notes it, even with uppercase versions of the modifiers
(MARDUI), there is a chance for name clash.

The solution of using a common option prefix (wether -s --state or -o
--only) for modifiers ensures insulation from name clashes.

This sounds to me like a sensible argument in favor of this option. We
could also add that typing upper-case letters in command arguments is
not very usual, and slows the typing.
