"hg ct" vs "hgct"

We should really provide a command line switch to hg ct / a config option, so 
that it can work the way you want.

But for nov you could edit the hgct extension .py file directly to get the 
behaviour you want.  It's very simple.  You'd just have to delete the 
commandline switches it passes, IIRC.
