[PATCH] localhost as the default smtp server

Be carefull, there is often an smtp server on localhost, but it's not
necessarily correctly configured.

I had the problem once with darcs, which used localhost as an smtp
server. I discovered monthes later that the patch was still in the
queue since the server didn't know what to do with it :-(.
